Sugar Does Not Cause Weight Gain?
Back in 1996 Duke University came out with a new study that proclaimed "Sugar Does Not Cause Weight Gain". On the surface this seemed great, we are ok to eat sugar, its fat that's evil, not sugar after all. Well that isn't completely true; the study went on to site this further piece of data...
"Sugar has an undeserved bad reputation," Surwit said. "This may be due, in part, to the fact that sugar is often used in combination with other ingredients, such as fat, which are known to have adverse health effects. Average, healthy people trying to lose weight can include sugar and sugary foods in their diet as long as they reduce their total caloric intake."
I bolded it for you. For those of you that don't know weight loss is a simple equation, if you burn more calories then you put into your body you will lose weight. It really doesn't matter where the calories come from, this is 100% true. The issue is we consume so much sugar in a given day because it is hidden everywhere that it is causing us to easily take in more calories then we burn.
So what is Duke really saying here? Sugar isn't bad as long as you don't take in too much of it! Great same thing goes for other things... like arsenic and chlorine gas. That makes me feel better.
Ever heard of Jared, you know the subway diet guy, this is how he lost weight. Not because Subway is so great for you or healthy at all for that matter, but becasue he was able to limit his calories. Lets see you live on three 6 inch subs a day. I have been telling people for ever since then I was going to go on the big Mac diet. Yep, believe it or not you could eat 2 1/2 Big Macs a day and lose weight. This would be highly unhealthy, but you would lose wieght.
So to wrap this up sugar does not cause weight gain, massive amounts of sugar feed to you in everything you eat does. This happens becasue it is causing your calorie intake to skyrocket above what you can burn in a day.
